"My son just completed his fourth year of guitar summer camp with Paul. Every year he looks forward to this camp, and he said this year was the best ever. Through the techniques he has learned from Paul over the years, my son and a friend were able to both write their own songs and play them together, using electric guitars as well as a bass. It was truly an amazing thing to see and hear. My son is now able to play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass. Paul has facilitated a love of music and of guitar for my son that he embraces every day. Paul is patient, and is able to teach guitar to all ages and ability levels. He also makes it fun and interesting by allowing students to choose the type of music they want to learn. My son takes lessons from Paul during the school year as well, and the results have been incredible. I honestly do not think there is a better guitar instructor in the Boulder area than Paul Roberts."
- Maggie, Mom of Walter, Age 12, Centennial Middle School
"Paul is a really fun, knowledgeable instructor. He is great at teaching a wide range of styles, and has greatly expanded my musical horizons. I really appreciate the way he can take something as complex as the guitar and simply explain and demonstrate the many techniques and methods of playing. He is very encouraging and has a good sense of not only what will be challenging for each student but also achievable. As an adult learner who tried several times to learn to play on my own – without success. I am amazed at what I have accomplished after only a short time under Paul’s direction."
- Michael, Law student, C.U. Boulder
"Band Camp was great! It started with a group of guys who didn’t know each other. Some of us had been playing longer than others and we all had different styles and tastes in music. But soon we were all playing guitar together, and learning new songs. I had never played or performed with other students before so it was a good challenge and great to do! We learned how to record songs and how to make a CD. I figured out how to stay in time, play a solo and learn the songs well enough to perform and record them well. I really enjoyed it! I improved a lot in my guitar playing during the camp, and I‘d do it again."
- Bayani, Age 13, New Vista High School
"Paul’s guitar camp was a great learning experience for my two kids. They learned finger exercises, theory and a great base to continue their love of guitar playing! They learned the process of recording a song, which was great fun for them. I was really impressed with Paul and how patient he was with the kids! They want to do the camp again!"
- Karen, Mom of Guitar Summer Camp participants - a boy and girl, Ages 7 and 11
"This was the second year I took one of Paul's Summer Camps and loved it! He's the nicest guy and went at everyone's individual pace. I never felt lost and I learned a lot of new chords to the kind of songs I like."
- Damon, Age, 11 Agevine Middle School, Lafayette
"I have been taking lessons with Paul for over four years now and the depth and breadth of the material we have covered has been amazing! We have covered everything from Blues, Jazz theory, improvisation, many classical pieces and rock solos to name just some of the material in our 45 minute lesson. I also have learned about to approach studying guitar technique and have gained good insights from Paul’s years of experience as a musician, teacher and student."
- Stan, Age 16, Fairview High School
"Paul Roberts Guitar summer camp is definitely one of my favorite camps of the summer. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an experienced guitar player it is still very fun. I have been doing this camp for four years and my guitar skills have rapidly increased! You simply just play the songs you want to learn. But it's not just that. You can also write songs and even play them in a band format with your fellow campers. Paul knows a lot about guitar and, teaches it in a very fun way that makes you want to learn it. Overall this camp is extremely fun and will make you the very skilled guitarist you know you want to be!"
- Walter, Age 12, Centennial Middle School
"Paul has been has been so flexible and open to teaching my son the songs he’s interested in learning. Paul is an extremely positive instructor, which has boosted my son’s confidence in playing the guitar. As a parent I am extremely grateful that Paul always tries to accommodate our busy schedule – I’m a single Mom who works full-time. Paul excels at helping Sam develop persistence in learning difficult material."
- Catherine Mom of Sam, Age 9, Eisenhower Elementary
"My son tends to be a quiet, studious boy and despite his interest in learning guitar, I wasn’t sure how this would go. Would he be able to channel his inner rock star? Paul put me at ease from the first lesson. He is able to strike that delicate balance between gently motivating students while creating a supportive, relaxing and upbeat environment for learning. Ryan has learned a considerable amount in a matter of months!"
- Diana, mom of Ryan 13, Southern Hills Middle School
"I like how I was able to learn Led Zeppelin and Beatles songs! I was able to learn how to read notes and play different musical styles such as Blues and Jazz."
- Jack, Age 14, Cenntenial Middle School
“Paul takes the time to be encouraging and make constructive suggestions when teaching guitar. He has a great deal of background and can take a student from the very basics to more extensive music theory as they progress. Learning to play from someone who loves guitar and has a wide range of experience is important, especially for kids. My child really loves working with Paul!” - Rita, Mom of Tim, Mesa Elementary |
